March 14 is recognized annually as Pi Day because, written out numerically, it is 3.14, the first three digits of pi. Here at McDonald, Pi Day is also known as “Pie Day” since students spend the two weeks leading up to it stuffing their teachers’ milk jugs with money for a special cause.
This year, the funds went to help fund the Eighth Grade Washington, DC trip, with Mrs. Averell raising $100 and Mrs. Ronghi raising $28. Senior Jason Cupan was chosen to pie Mrs. Averel,l and 7th Grader Bryson Velte was chosen to pie Mrs. Ronghi. Altogether, $217.70 was raised through student donations.
Math Club Advisor Mrs. Ronghi deserves special thanks for putting this event together every year with the Math Club for students to participate in and enjoy.
